The Village Clerk’s Office is staffed by Clerk Heather Mydloski.
Heather Mydloski was appointed by the Village Council as the Village Clerk on December 14, 2020, when Clerk Eileen Pulker retired after 21 years of faithful service to the Village. However, Heather is no newcomer to the Village. Heather is a Village resident, she serves as the Oktoberfest Chair for the Friends of the Franklin Library, the PEG Chairman for the Birmingham Area Cable Board, the Franklin Mobile Watch Public Relations Coordinator and is the Franklin Bingham Police Department Social Media Coordinator. Prior to becoming our Clerk, she provided administrative support to the Village office. Heather is married to FBFPD D./Sgt. Bob Mydloski and they have 3 grown sons. Heather brings a well-rounded skill set of team building to our administration. Heather loves being a part of our community and is proud to serve as our Clerk!
The Village Clerk directs and coordinates the operations of the Clerk’s Office. The Clerk maintains all official Village records and ordinances, keeps the corporate seal, signs warrants and licenses, publishes and records all of the Village ordinances, under the seal of the Village provides certified copies of Village papers and records, has the authority to issue oaths and affirmations, files all signed contracts, processes all insurance additional and renewals, responsible payroll and documents necessary for employment and serves as Secretary to the Village Council. The Clerk provides support to the Treasurer’s Office and Building Department as operational needs demand.
State legislative changes that occurred in 2012 transferred responsible for Franklin Village Elections to Southfield Township. By Charter the Village Clerk is also responsible within seven (7) days after the meeting and determination of the Council to notify each person elected or appointed.
The Village Clerk warrants all money drawn from the Treasury and specifies the fund from which it is payable, with the approval of the Council, and only as provided in the annual budget. The Village Clerk also certifies to the Village Treasurer the amount necessary to be raised by general tax for the several funds of the Village, after the Council has approved the annual budget.
